Jason and Amy at Craig Rehab Hospital.
"Most of the people in the hospital were recovering from a recent injury, and this lifestyle was new to them. They were navigating this spiral of emotions that span a broad spectrum, from pessimism to realism, from acceptance to rejection. One cannot be sure if the spiral is up toward the light or spinning down and out of control, or if in fact they are stuck in a pendulum that swings back and forth again."

"I miss the profundity of that time of recovery, the depth and richness of it. In the months that followed, I began to find my new normal. I became independent, settling into normal life—and I began to miss those two months in the hospital. They were the hardest two months, but also the sweetest. It was a beautiful paradox."

"I don’t have to figure this out alone. I don’t have to strain for physical healing. On the other side of this life is a restored body for me, and on this side are beautiful things: relationships and work and play and praise and community. I may not walk, but I am blessed to run this race."
