Pastor Knute Larson teaching at the Morningstar Ski Trip in Copper Mountain, Colorado, in 2022.

"God, where are you? Were you paying attention to something else when my friend was skiing toward the edge of a cliff? Were you watching someone else while my friend was on a Bible study trip with other men of God? He had skied that mountain countless times, and he had gone down that very hill earlier that day. How did You let that happen? Metaphorically speaking, did You drop Your pencil? Where is the sovereignty of God in all of this?"

Team Kolb welcoming Jason home at the Cleveland airport after his months in Colorado. Jason flew home with Amy and Eric and was welcomed by extended family, the Bucciarelli family, and the Van Drunen family. Good Friday, 2023.

"When we suffer, we need community. Suffering alone is pain multiplied. Suffering in community is pain divided into smaller and smaller fractions. If you are suffering, please hear this: You are not alone."

The Morningstar Ski Team guys and their wives visiting Jason when he came home from Craig Hospital. April, 2023.

"You may feel alone, but you are not alone. May you be blessed with friends who will mourn with you, who will comfort you, who will sit with you. If you are not in a season of suffering, become that friend for someone who is. Create that community for your brother or sister who is in distress."

". . . I can lay down the heavy burden of trying to run the universe. I can put the weight of the world on God’s shoulders. And as I lay in my bed in room 424 at Craig Hospital, I would look out the window and see the Rocky Mountains, fifty miles away. I would take comfort; the Creator-God who made those mountains could handle the affairs of my life. I could finally rest in this profound truth: God is God and I am not."
