RAGE

Eric in Keystone, Colorado, the evening of the assault.
"A mid-humerus fracture typically heals on its own, and the docs in the trauma center expected the best for Eric’s recovery. They followed the standard protocol, put him in a cuff brace, and pumped him full of medicines. They sent him back to the condo with us. He would spend the rest of the weekend in a recliner, waiting to go home."

"While the surgeon repaired his arm, God was doing a slow work to repair Eric’s heart."

The x-ray of Eric's broken arm from the ski boarder.
"Having worked 20 years in the emergency department, I can say that a mid-humerus fracture typically requires a tremendous amount of trauma, something like a high speed car crash or falling off a roof. When I saw the x-ray, my rage against this snowboarder increased, and my sympathy for my brother deepened. I knew his ski season was over, and he would have a long road to recovery."
