WATERSHED

"Jon and I had paused to catch our breath, and we turned back to watch Caleb who was helping a lady who’d fallen. She had gotten her skis criss-crossed, and he was helping her get on her feet. While we waited, Jon and I took a selfie. In that photo, there’s nothing but white slopes and blue sky behind us."
The tubing hill just below where Jason's accident happened.
"I had a millisecond to see what was ahead of me: a long line of children and families, riding the magic carpet to the top of the tubing hill. I was barreling toward them like a semi truck coming down the I-70 highway. I tried to stop. I thought, I’m going to slam into the kids. That’s when the ground dropped out from under me. Everything went black."
